More than 400 members of the Riviera and Belize family of motor yacht owners, walked the red carpet to the unforgettable melodies of classic movie songs in a Hollywood-themed evening during the Sydney International Boat Show.
Beginning with the evocative “Old Man River” from Showboat, the Saturday evening event brought the sounds of the movies to life as popular entertainers Nikki and Chad moved around from one glistening motor yacht to the next, serenading guests with iconic songs including “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” from The Wizard of Oz and “Sparkling Diamonds” from Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge.
Riviera chairman and owner Rodney Longhurst thanked the guests. “Our world premiere 68 Sports Motor Yacht is the finest example of our constant striving for excellence in everything we do to ensure you have the time of your life on the water. We thank each and every one of you for your loyalty and support of Riviera,” he said.
“I would also like to thank our extraordinary team of craftspeople at our yard who work so hard to produce these magnificent motor yachts you see here tonight. And also to our dedicated network of dealers, not only the R Marine team here in Australia and New Zealand but around the world.”
The evening was a “spectacle of the highest order” according to owner Brian Gardoll.
“The food, the drinks and those entertainers made for what we considered a special evening,” he said. “We got reacquainted with old friends and made some new ones, all in a setting that Riviera has become renowned for – quality and class.”
As the music filled the evening air, mingling and indulging in the fine foods and wines then turned to dancing the night away Riviera-style to “Jailhouse Rock” and “Footloose”.
